18/07/2007 - NEWS - Avalon Classic Bike Tours

Have you ever wanted to own a classic bike but don’t know:-
Where to start?
What model to ride?
How to ride it?
The perfect solution has just arrived.
Avalon Classic Bike Tours is the ideal way to introduce yourself to the classic bikes of yesteryear.
Not only can we offer you a ride on some of the most iconic motorcycles of the last century but your base will be the Avalon Hotel in Whitley Bay- a 3 star (ETB approved) Hotel.
The hotel is well known within the motorcycle fraternity for its top quality accommodation, excellent food & beer along with live music and events.
The choice of bikes is impressive – we have an Ariel Sq. 4, 2 Vincent’s, Triumph Bonneville’s, BSA A10, Norton Commando and for the brave a 600cc Flat Tanker with hand change.
We are based in Whitley Bay, on the edge of Northumberland, which is probably the best kept secret in the UK – miles and miles of unspoilt scenery, fantastic roads and all to be enjoyed on Classic British Motorcycles.
We will offer a complete package – You arrive how you want i.e. train, plane, car or your own bike – we will accommodate you, feed you plus show you the best bar in Whitley Bay. You will have a choice of motorcycles (subject to availability) plus then after a period of instruction on the bike of your choice, I will take you on a daily tour of Northumberland. Insurance for the bike will be included and if necessary we can supply you helmets, gloves etc.The only two things you will need is a full Motorcycle Licence and a willingness to enjoy yourself.
Please note we will not be riding the latest Yamakawasuki with Foo Foo valves at 200mph – we will be riding bikes up to 80 yrs old so if you want a track day don’t come here. If you fancy pottering around the back roads of Northumberland at 40-50mph taking in the scenery, listening to a British single/twin blatting away then this is for you.
Prices will vary depending on the bike you want to ride, how long you want to stay in the hotel + whether you require guided or directed tours. Insurance for the motorcycle will be included in the price as will petrol, oil and general consumables.
All you have to worry about is how much are you allowed to enjoy yourself.
Tours will run from March through to end of October + will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions.
If you would like to buy that extra special birthday/anniversary present for your loved one get in touch – one day tours are available.
